What’s a First Aid Kit for Feelings?
You might have first aid kit at home, packed with plasters, paracetamol, bandages and so on. A First Aid Kit for Feelings works in exactly the same way, but it’s packed with tools, tips and things that help you respond to intense emotions and symptoms.
When you are in a heightened state, the rational and resourceful part of your brain shuts down. This impairs your thinking and leads to unhelpful decisions and difficult feelings. Having a pre-prepared First Aid Kit for Feelings helps you respond to difficult feelings in a more helpful way.
It’s made up of things that are important to you, like movies and photos, as well as strategies to help you reduce the intensity and minimise the risk of you responding to your emotions, symptoms and others in a way that might be destructive or damaging.
Work online, at your own pace
Based on our popular workshops, our First Aid Kit for Feelings course is now online! You can work on your computer, tablet or smartphone at your own pace.
First, we explore your current behaviours and identify areas to work with. Then we look at how your body responds to your thoughts and feelings and how little changes in the body can make a big difference. Each training video has an exercise video with a template for you to experiment with what you are learning.
At the end of each module there is an action plan and a quiz to help you solidify and apply what you’ve learnt. Take the course at your own pace, aim to do at least a training video and an exercise a week. The key is to engage regularly, whatever your speed. You can then revisit course resources and lectures whenever you need.

- The training runs 10am – 5pm with an hour for lunch.
