When you are in a heightened state, the rational and resourceful part of your brain shuts down. This impairs your thinking and leads to unhelpful decisions and difficult feelings. Having a pre-prepared First Aid Kit for Feelings helps you respond to difficult feelings in a more helpful way.
It’s made up of things that are important to you, like movies and photos. It also includes personalised strategies to help you reduce the intensity of symptoms. This minimises the risk of you responding to your emotions, symptoms and others in a way that might be destructive or damaging.
Join a group workshop
This one day training teaches you what happens when you are in a heightened state and the rational and resourceful part of your brain shuts down. You’ll start to create your own individual First Aid Kit for Feelings and learn how to shift the inner dialogue that takes place in your head from unhelpful to helpful.
- The training runs 10am – 4:30pm with a break for lunch
